How to Manage Expired ID Documents in Your Wallet

You have received an email from VerifiMe notifying you that your identification document has expired. This guide will walk you through updating your ID in your VerifiMe Identity Wallet.

Before You Begin

What You'll Need

One of the following valid (non-expired) ID documents:

  • Australian Passport

  • Australian Driver's License

  • Medicare Card

Technical Requirements:

  • Internet connection

  • Device with camera or access to scanned documents

  • Supported file formats: JPG, PNG, or PDF

  • Maximum file size: 10MB per document

  • Clear, readable images (no blurry or cut-off documents)

Document Quality Guidelines

βœ… DO:

  • Ensure documents are current and not expired

  • Take photos in good lighting

  • Capture the entire document (all edges visible)

  • Ensure text is clear and readable

  • Remove documents from plastic sleeves before photographing

  • Use a plain, contrasting background

❌ DON'T:

  • Submit expired documents

  • Use blurry or dark images

  • Cut off any part of the document

  • Submit photocopies (original documents only)

  • Include handwritten notes or markings

  • Submit documents with glare or reflections


Step-by-Step Upload Process

Step 1: Access Your VerifiMe Identity Wallet

  1. Go to the VerifiMe login page using the link provided in your email, or visit: portal.verifime.com

  2. Enter your registered email address

  3. Click "Continue"

  4. Select your login method:

    • Authenticator: Open your authenticator app (that you previously set up) to get the 6-digit passcode, then enter it to verify and sign in

    • Passkey: Use the same method you use to unlock your registered device (facial recognition, fingerprint, or device PIN/password) to authenticate and sign in

Step 2: Navigate to Identity Documents

  1. Once logged in, you'll see your dashboard

  2. Under the "Identities" section, click on the box for the identity that needs to be updated

  3. You'll be taken to the details update page, which will be pre-filled with your existing information

  4. Review the pre-filled details and click "Continue" to proceed to the document upload page


Step 3: Upload New Document

  1. On the document upload page, select the document type you would like to update from the dropdown menu:

    • Passport

    • Driver's License

    • Medicare Card

  2. Upload your document using one of these methods:

    • Drag and drop (if using a PC): Drag your document file directly into the drag and drop box

    • Select file: Click on the drag and drop box to browse and select the file you would like to upload

    • Take a photo (if using a device with a camera): Click on the drag and drop box and select the camera option to take a picture of your ID


Step 4: Review and Confirm Document Details

  1. After uploading, the system will automatically extract information from your document

  2. Review the pre-filled details:

    • Document number

    • Full name

    • Date of birth

    • Expiry date (if applicable)

    • Issue date

  3. Correct any errors if the system misread information

  4. Ensure the expiry date shows your document is current

  5. Click "Continue" to proceed to face check verification


Step 5: Face Check Verification (Optional)

  1. You'll be taken to the face check verification page

  2. Choose one of the following options:

    • Complete face check: If your service provider has requested face verification, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the biometric check

    • Skip for now: Click "More Options" and select to skip this step if face verification is not required


Step 6: Submit for Verification

  1. Click "Submit and Share"

  2. Click "Back to Home" to return to your dashboard

  3. You'll receive a confirmation message


Step 7: Verification Process

What happens next:

  1. Immediate Confirmation: You'll receive an email confirming we've received your document

  2. Verification in Progress: Your document will be reviewed (typically within 10-20 minutes)

  3. Verification Complete: You'll receive an email notification when verification is complete

Verification Timeline:

  • Standard processing: 10-20 minutes

  • Peak periods: Up to 1-2 hours

  • Incomplete submissions: May require resubmission (you'll be notified)


Specific Document Guidelines

Passport Requirements

What to include:

  • Photo/bio-data page (the page with your photo and personal details)

  • Full page must be visible

  • All text must be readable

  • Machine-readable zone (MRZ) at bottom must be clear

Common issues:

  • Laminated edge cutting off MRZ

  • Glare on laminated surface

  • Only uploading front cover instead of photo page


Driver's License Requirements

What to include:

  • Front of license (with photo and details)

  • Back of license (with address - if applicable)

  • All four corners visible

  • Card number clearly readable

State-specific notes:

  • Some states require both front and back

  • Digital licenses may require screenshot from official app

  • Ensure hologram/security features are visible but not obscuring text


Medicare Card Requirements

What to include:

  • Full card clearly visible

  • All names listed on card readable

  • Medicare number and IRN (Individual Reference Number) clear

  • Expiry date visible

Important notes:

  • Green Medicare cards are current and acceptable

  • Yellow Medicare cards are not acceptable

  • If you're listed on a family card, the whole card must be shown

  • Digital Medicare cards from myGov are acceptable
