Why biometric verification?

Biometric verification ensures that you are a real person and that you are the same person in the photo on your identity document. This prevents identity fraud and protects both you and service providers.

What happens during biometric verification

Liveness detection:

  • You'll be asked to record a short video of yourself

  • The system checks that you're a live person (not a photo or video of someone else)

  • This protects against sophisticated fraud attempts

    Facial comparison:

  • VerifiMe compares your live selfie video with the photo on your identity document

  • Advanced facial recognition technology measures similarity

  • A high match score confirms you are the person in the document photo

How to complete your biometric selfie

Preparation:

  1. Find a well-lit location (natural light works best)

  2. Make sure your face is clearly visible

  3. Remove sunglasses, hats, or anything covering your face

  4. Position yourself in front of your camera

  5. Ensure your device's camera is working properly

During capture:

  1. Click to start the video recording

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully - you may be asked to:

    • Turn your head slowly from side to side

    • Look up and down

    • Blink when prompted

    • Move closer or further from the camera

  3. Keep your face centered in the frame

  4. Stay still except when asked to move

  5. The recording typically takes 10-30 seconds

Tips for success:

  • ✓ Good, even lighting on your face

  • ✓ Plain background behind you

  • ✓ Face clearly visible and not covered

  • ✓ Follow all prompts exactly as instructed

  • ✓ Stay calm and natural

Common problems:

  • ✗ Too dark or too much backlighting

  • ✗ Moving too quickly or not following instructions

  • ✗ Wearing sunglasses or hats

  • ✗ Face partially covered or out of frame

  • ✗ Camera quality too poor

If biometric verification fails

Don't worry if you need to try again:

  • Check your lighting and try in a different location

  • Make sure nothing is covering your face

  • Follow the on-screen instructions more carefully

  • Ensure your identity document photo is clear (some document photos may be low quality)

  • Contact support if you continue to have issues
