📱 Digital Driver's Licence
Digital driver's licences are supported and fully DVS-verifiable — the verification process is identical to a physical licence.
Supported states
Supported | Not available |
✅ NSW · VIC · QLD · SA | ❌ WA · TAS · ACT · NT |
Digital driver's licences are not currently issued in WA, TAS, ACT, or NT. Customers in these states will need to use a physical licence or an alternative document.
Required fields (all states)
All of the following must be visible in the uploaded screenshot(s):
Given name(s), family name, and date of birth
Licence number and card number (both are mandatory)
State of issue
How customers should capture their digital licence
Customers typically need to upload two screenshots to capture all required fields — for example, the licence number is often on a separate details screen from the main licence view.
State-specific tips
VIC — The card number displays as dots by default. The customer must tap the eye symbol to reveal it before taking their screenshot. This is a very common support issue.
SA — The digital licence has an Overview tab and a Details tab. Both screens may need to be captured to show all required fields.
NSW — The card number is a 10-digit numeric value, visible at the top right of the digital licence screen.
QLD — The card number is 10 alphanumeric characters, visible on the details screen of the digital licence.
🏥 Digital Medicare Card
Digital Medicare cards are supported and fully DVS-verifiable. The digital card is accessed through the MyGov, under the Digital Wallet section. The verification process is identical to a physical card.
Required fields
Field | Detail |
Card number | 10 digits — the 9-digit card number followed by the 1-digit issue number. Enter with no spaces. |
Name | As printed on the card. |
IRN | Individual reference number — the single digit printed to the left of the cardholder's name. |
Expiry | Format depends on card colour (see below). |
Date of birth | Optional. If entered, it will be validated against the Medicare record. |
Important notes
Medicare cards issued to individuals holding a PLO56 or Humanitarian Visa cannot be verified via DVS and will return a fail result. These cases are out of scope for DVS verification.
🪪 Proof of Age Cards
Proof of Age cards cannot be verified through VerifiMe. No state or territory's Proof of Age card has a DVS database endpoint — this is a DVS limitation, not a VerifiMe one.
State card names for reference
State/Territory | Card name | Issuing body |
NSW | Photo Card | Transport for NSW (TfNSW) |
VIC | Proof of Age Card | VicRoads |
QLD | Adult Proof of Age Card | Department of Transport and Main Roads |
SA | Proof of Age Card | Service SA |
WA | Proof of Age Card | Department of Transport (DoT) |
TAS | Tasmanian Government Personal Information Card (TGPIC) | — |
ACT | Proof of Age Card | Access Canberra |
NT | Evidence of Age Card | Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics |
What to do when a customer only has a Proof of Age card
Work through the following steps in order:
Ask about a passport — An Australian passport is the strongest DVS-verifiable alternative document.
Ask about a driver's licence — Even expired licences can be verified in most states (except TAS and WA where licences expired more than 6 months ago are not accepted).
Consider Medicare as a secondary document — A Medicare card can be used alongside another form of ID as a supporting document.
No DVS-verifiable document available — Refer to your mitigation template or AML program about alternative ID documents.
