What Does Permissioning Mean?

Permissioning allows you to share your pre-verified identity information with a business or service provider without having to re-submit your documents. Once you grant permission, the organisation can access:

  • Your verified identity information (derived from documents like driver's licence, passport)

  • Your personal details that have been verified

  • Your verification status and history

  • Any other information you've consented to share

Benefits of Permissioning

  • Faster onboarding: No need to upload documents again

  • Reduced repetition: Share information you've already verified once

  • Greater control: You decide which organisations can access your information

  • Secure sharing: Your information is shared through a secure platform

Two Ways to Grant Permission

There are two methods to grant an organisation access to your information:

Method 1: Responding to a Permission Request

Use this when an organisation sends you a permission request

Method 2: Creating a New Permission

Use this when you want to proactively grant access to an organisation

Method 1: Responding to a Permission Request

This method is typically used when you're a new customer who hasn't yet verified their wallet. The organisation will send you a permission request as part of your initial onboarding.

Step 1: Receive a Permission Request

You'll receive a permission request from the organisation via email or through the VerifiMe platform. This request will include the organisation's name and details, along with a link to access VerifiMe.

Step 2: Access VerifiMe

Click the link in the permission request. This will take you to:

  • If you already have an account: The login page where you can sign in to your existing VerifiMe wallet

  • If you're new to VerifiMe: The setup page where you can create your ID wallet

Step 3: Review the Request

Once you've logged in or completed your wallet setup, you'll be able to review the permission request. Before granting permission, carefully review:

  • Organisation details: Ensure you recognize the business and intended to share information with them

Step 4: Grant or Deny Permission

New permission requests: When you log in, any new permission requests will automatically pop up on your screen for immediate review.

Pending requests: All pending permission requests can be found in the Permissions tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

To respond to a pending request:

  1. Click on the Permissions tab on the left-hand side of the screen to review the pending request details

  2. Click "Grant Now" to approve the permission

  3. To deny the request, click the dropdown menu above the "Grant Now" button and select "Dismiss"

Step 4: Confirmation

After granting permission:

  • You'll receive a confirmation email

  • Your information is shared with the organisation

  • You can view this permission in the Permissions tab under "History"

Method 2: Creating a New Permission

Step 1: Access the Permissions Tab

  1. Log into your VerifiMe account

  2. Navigate to the Permissions tab in the top left-hand side of the screen

Step 2: Initiate New Permission

  1. Click "New Permission"

  2. A pop-up will appear where you can search for the organisation you would like to permission

Step 3: Search and Grant Permission

  1. Use the search field to find the organisation

  2. Select the organisation from the search results

  3. Click "Grant Permission"

After creating the permission:

  • You'll receive a confirmation message

  • The organisation will have been provisioned access to the ID confirmation in your wallet

  • The permission will appear in your "History" list

Managing Your Permissions

Viewing Active Permissions

To see all organisations that currently have access to your information:

  1. Log into your VerifiMe account

  2. Go to the Permissions tab

  3. View your permission history - note all active permissions will have a Revoke button in the bottom right corner

Here you'll see a list of all organisations with current access, including:

  • Organisation name

  • Date permission was granted

All active permissions will have a Revoke button in the bottom right corner of the permission.

Revoking Permission

You can revoke an organisation's access to your information at any time, regardless of how the permission was created:

  1. Navigate to Active Permissions

  2. Find the organisation you want to remove

  3. Click "Revoke"

  4. Confirm your decision

Note: Revoking permission removes their ability to view your information going forward. Any information they've already downloaded or recorded in their systems will remain with them in accordance with their privacy policy and legal obligations.
