Set up Credentials to Secure a Wallet (2FA) if you did not do it an initial wallet creation

Important Notice

Your VerifiMe wallet functionality is limited without 2FA setup. You must configure an authenticator app, passkey, or other 2FA method to access the wallet and permission service providers.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the email address you used when first registering with VerifiMe

  • A smartphone with an authenticator app installed (recommended: Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy)

Step-by-Step Setup Process

Step 1: Access Your Wallet

  1. Click on the link that you received from the requesting organisation to complete an identity check

  2. Enter the email address you originally used with VerifiMe

  3. Check your email inbox and follow the verification link

  4. Once verified, you'll be taken to your wallet containing your identity card

Step 2: Navigate to Security Settings - see below

  1. In your wallet dashboard, locate and click Settings

  2. Look for the security or authentication section

Step 3: Set Up Your Authenticator App - see below

  1. If you see that no 2FA method is currently active, click Change or Add New

  2. A QR code will be displayed on your screen - see below

  3. Open your authenticator app on your smartphone

  4. Scan the QR code using your authenticator app

  5. Your app will generate a 6-digit code for VerifiMe

  6. Enter this code in the verification field to confirm setup

Step 4: Test Your 2FA Setup

  1. Log out of your VerifiMe account completely - see screen 4, below

  2. Enter your email address

  3. When prompted, open your authenticator app and enter the current 6-digit code

  4. Verify that you can successfully log in

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Ensure your phone's time is synchronized correctly for accurate code generation

  • If the QR code won't scan, look for a manual entry option in your authenticator app

  • Keep backup codes in a secure location if provided during setup

  • Contact VerifiMe support if you encounter persistent issues

Security Best Practices

  • Never share your 2FA codes with anyone

  • Keep your authenticator app updated

  • Consider setting up multiple 2FA methods if available

  • Regularly review your account security settings
